The cold wind swept across the empty streets as a thin brown dog dragged herself slowly along the roadside. Her back legs no longer worked after a terrible accident months ago, but she refused to give up. Hidden beneath an old wooden cart nearby were her three tiny cubs, waiting hungrily for her return.
Every movement caused pain. She pulled herself forward using only her front legs, stopping often to catch her breath. People passed by without noticing her struggle, while others looked away. Still, the brave mother continued searching for anything her cubs could eat.
The little cubs cried softly from hunger as the evening grew darker. Hearing their cries gave the injured dog strength. She sniffed around garbage bins and market corners, hoping to find scraps of food. After a long search, she discovered a torn bag containing a few pieces of rice and some dry meat bones.
Carefully, she picked up the food and began the difficult journey back to her cubs. Her body trembled with exhaustion, but she never stopped moving. The thought of her babies starving pushed her forward through the pain.
When she finally reached the cart, the cubs rushed toward her happily. Their tiny tails wagged with excitement as she dropped the precious food before them. Though it was not much, the cubs ate gratefully while staying close to their mother’s side.
A nearby shopkeeper had quietly watched the entire scene. Touched by the mother dog’s determination, he brought fresh water and more food for the small family. Soon, other kind people joined in to help.
That night, for the first time in many days, the cubs slept peacefully with full stomachs. The injured mother rested beside them, her tired eyes filled with love.
Even with broken legs and endless hardship, her heart remained strong. Her courage showed everyone that a mother’s love can overcome pain, fear, and impossible odds.
